Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched a scathing attack on Congress from Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu. Shah expressed strong objection to the recent resolution passed by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) regarding the national anthem 'Vande Mataram', calling it a direct 'anti-national' step. The Home Minister said in clear words that Congress is once again trying to fuel appeasement politics in the country by repeating its old and controversial stand of 1937.
In fact, the Congress Working Committee, on the lines of its historic resolution of 1937, has decided to sing only the first two stanzas of Vande Mataram. Taking a dig at this decision, the Home Minister cornered the opposition. Shah reminded that even in 1937, Congress, under the pressure of Muslim appeasement, had distributed this sacred song, which had later prepared the ground for the partition of the country.
Vande Mataram controversy: Referring to the 1937 decision and the foundation of partition
The Home Minister said that the current stand of Congress shows that there has been no change in its political thinking even after decades. He stressed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has prepared a proper legal framework to correct this historic mistake of the Congress and keep national unity intact. But Congress wants to follow its old path by ignoring the laws and rules made by the Parliament.
Direct insult to Bankim Babu and freedom fighters
Questioning the intentions of Congress, Amit Shah said that Vande Mataram is not just a song, but has been the biggest ideological energy of India's freedom struggle. Singing this immortal creation of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay incompletely is not only an insult to his literature and spiritual practice, but is also an insult to those lakhs of brave sons who kissed the noose while singing this song. Taking aim at the top leadership of Congress, Shah said that under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the party has become completely directionless and has returned to the path of appeasement.
The country should unite against appeasement
Appealing to the public, the Home Minister said that the country has already suffered huge losses due to such divisive decisions. Now the time has come that every section of the society should unite and strongly oppose this mentality. He clarified that the Bharatiya Janata Party strongly condemns this decision and there is no room left for appeasement politics in 21st century India.
The ideological conflict between the two major political parties over national symbols and the legacy of the freedom struggle seems to be intensifying. In such a situation, this new controversy over Vande Mataram is certain to gain more political significance in the coming days.
