High Court bench approved in Ladakh, Amit Shah made a big announcement

Amit Shah: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday that the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to establish a bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in Ladakh. Amit Shah said that this decision will make it much easier for the citizens living in the hinterlands of Ladakh to get justice. He said that the establishment of High Court benches will reduce the time taken by people to get legal services. The Home Minister added that the Central Government is fully committed to the overall development of Ladakh.

It will be easy for the people of Ladakh to get justice

Becoming a bench of the High Court will make access to justice easier for the people of Ladakh. Especially people living in remote areas will not have to go far for legal work. This is expected to save both time and effort and expedite disposal of cases. The government says that the main objective of this decision is to provide better judicial facilities to the citizens of Ladakh.

Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh High Court declared a holiday on August 26

In another news, the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has declared a holiday for the Hon’ble Court on 26 August 2026. Instead, 19 December 2026 has been kept as the working day. According to a notification issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, 25 August 2026, which was earlier declared a holiday on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), will now be a “non-sitting day” for the Hon’ble Court.

Notification No. 1835 of 2026/RG/NG-15(1) promulgated on 18 August 2026 stated that a holiday would be observed on 26 August 2026 in lieu of non-sitting day on 25 August. The notification further states that 19 December 2026, which was earlier declared a non-sitting day vide High Court Order No. 1313 of 2026/RG/NG-15(1) dated 19 June 2026, will now be a working day in lieu of 25 August 2026.
