New Delhi. Monsoon may once again gain momentum in many parts of the country. On August 21, an alert of heavy rain and storm has been issued in 23 states including UP, Bihar, Delhi. In some areas the wind speed can reach 70 to 80 kilometers per hour. There is also a threat of lightning in eastern India and landslides in hilly areas. Farmers and people living on river and sea banks have been advised to take special precautions.
Danger of rain and storm in 23 states
Today, the effect of rain and strong winds can be seen in UP, Delhi, Bihar, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim, Manipur, Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Hailstorm is also possible at some places. The main reason for this change in weather is the low pressure area formed in and around North-Eastern Madhya Pradesh. Due to its effect, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in East Madhya Pradesh.

There is a possibility of strong winds along with rain in Delhi today. Wind speed can range from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. The maximum temperature in the capital is expected to be around 35 degrees and minimum 28 degrees Celsius.
Alert in these districts in UP
Many districts of Uttar Pradesh including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Banda, Hamirpur, Jhansi may be affected by rain and storm. During this period, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour.
Heavy rain in Bihar also
There is an alert of rain and storm in Patna, Gaya, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, Siwan, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Munger and Khagaria of Bihar. Strong winds may blow in many areas. The temperature in Patna may remain around 35 degrees.
Concern increased in hilly states
There is a possibility of heavy rain and strong winds in many districts of Uttarakhand. At the same time, rainy season may continue in Himachal Pradesh also. There is a possibility of rain with thunder in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir. People need to remain alert in view of situations like landslides and sudden road blockage in hilly areas.
