Sugar Price Hike : The sudden rise in the price of sugar in the retail market has increased the concerns of the common people. The opposition is targeting the Modi government on this issue. Meanwhile, Bihar's Samrat government minister Shravan Kumar linked rising sugar prices to diabetes. He claimed that nowadays people are becoming victims of diabetes and hence they have reduced the use of sugar. In such a situation, increasing the price of sugar will not make any difference.

In fact, the increase in the price of sugar by Rs 20-21 per kg in a month has spoiled the budget of housewives. This issue has been raised prominently by Aam Aadmi Party and Congress. When Shravan Kumar, Cabinet Minister of Rural Development and Information and Public Relations Department of Bihar Government, was questioned on this issue, he said something which was very surprising. Minister Shravan Kumar told journalists, 'Even then people are eating less sugar. Everyone is suffering from illness and people are eating less sweets. Nowadays everyone is falling victim to diabetes. So I think the increase in sugar prices is not going to make any difference.
While sharing the video of this statement of the minister, Congress MP Pawan Khera gave a sharp reaction. He sarcastically wrote, 'Modi government's first initiative towards diabetes-free India: According to this minister of Bihar, the government has made sugar so expensive that people are not able to buy it.'
