Television actor Shweta Tiwari had an unexpected visitor at home after ordering a Red Bull through Swiggy Instamart. The actor claimed that a cockroach came along with her online order and took to social media to highlight the incident, even tagging Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe and asking him to look into the matter.
Shweta shared a video on her Instagram Stories showing a cockroach crawling around inside her home. According to the actor, she and her friends had ordered Red Bull through Instamart when they discovered the insect.
“We ordered Red Bull from Instamart, and we also received a cockroach with that,” Shweta said in the video. She then showed the insect moving across the furniture inside her house.
The actor appeared both amused and frustrated by the situation as she watched the cockroach move around. At one point, someone accompanying her attempted to swat the insect, but Shweta stopped them.
She then decided to bring the incident to the attention of Maharashtra’s food safety authorities. After asking whether she should tag Tukaram Mundhe, she directly addressed the FDA commissioner.
“Mundhe ji, now we are receiving cockroaches at home from Instamart. Aap kahan hai, please dhyaan dijiye,” she said, asking him to take note of the alleged hygiene issue.
The video was shared in a light-hearted manner, with Shweta and her friends laughing during the incident, but her complaint comes at a time when food safety at quick-commerce warehouses has come under increased regulatory scrutiny in Maharashtra.
Tukaram Mundhe has recently emerged as a prominent figure in the state’s food safety crackdown. The Maharashtra FDA has conducted inspections of restaurants, food businesses and quick-commerce facilities, with several establishments facing action over alleged hygiene and food safety violations.
Earlier this month, the FDA suspended permits linked to multiple warehouses operated by major quick-commerce companies after inspections reportedly found cockroach infestations, expired food and other unhygienic conditions. The action involved facilities associated with Blinkit, Swiggy and Zepto.
The crackdown has brought greater attention to the conditions inside so-called dark stores, which serve as local warehouses for quick-commerce platforms. These facilities stock groceries and other products before they are dispatched to customers, often within minutes of an order being placed.
Mundhe’s aggressive approach has also attracted considerable attention on social media, with consumers increasingly tagging him when they encounter alleged food safety or hygiene problems. Shweta’s post appears to be another example of that growing trend.
The actor’s complaint also highlights one of the concerns associated with online grocery delivery: consumers generally have little visibility into how products are stored before reaching their homes. While Shweta’s video shows a cockroach inside her residence, it does not independently establish where or how the insect entered the premises or whether it came from the Instamart facility.
She has remained active across television, films and streaming projects in recent years. Her work includes appearances in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again and the Prime Video series Indian Police Force. She also continues to be a familiar face on Indian television.
