Tezzbuzz Desk – US Open 2026 has set a new record in the world of tennis in terms of prize money. For the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) has announced a total prize money of $ 108 million i.e. about Rs 1033 crore. This is about 20 percent more than last year and 44 percent more than 2024. This record-breaking prize pool will benefit not only the players who become champions but also the players who were eliminated in the initial stages of the tournament.
This time the champion of women's and men's singles will get an amount of 5.5 million dollars i.e. about Rs 52 crore. Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka, who became champions last year, received 5 million dollars. This means that this time the prize money of the winner has also been increased significantly. The special thing is that among the 128 players included in the main draw of US Open, the player who is eliminated after losing in the first round will also get about 1.40 lakh dollars i.e. about 1.34 crore rupees. That means the player will become a millionaire without winning a single match. The prize money will increase rapidly as the tournament progresses. The player who reaches the quarter-finals will get approximately 7.80 lakh dollars i.e. approximately Rs 7.4 crore. If you make it to the semi-finals, the prize money will increase to $1.45 million i.e. about Rs 13 crore. At the same time, the player who loses in the final will also take with him approximately 2.8 million dollars i.e. approximately Rs 26.8 crore. This is almost half of the amount of Rs 52 crore that the champion received.
A huge amount has also been kept for doubles players in US Open 2026. The winning pairs of men's, women's and mixed doubles will get 1 million dollars i.e. about Rs 9.5 crore. The runner-up pair will be given an amount of approximately Rs 4.7 crore. Due to this, this tournament has become more attractive for doubles players than before.
This time, wheelchair events have also been given special attention in the US Open. The total prize pool of wheelchair competitions in 2026 has been increased by 44.3 percent to $ 2,309,200 i.e. about Rs 22 crore. The champion of wheelchair singles will get prize money of around Rs 99 lakh. Keeping in mind the future and financial security of the players, USTA has also created a special player welfare fund of $ 2 million. This amount will be divided equally between male and female players and will provide them additional financial assistance in addition to pension. With this record prize money, US Open 2026 has not only become the biggest prize tournament in tennis history, but also shows that more attention than ever is being paid to the initial performance of the players in the Grand Slam and their financial security.
