Air taxi has been included for the first time in Delhi's new master plan 2047. In this plan of the Central Government, air taxi and air pod are mentioned as future transport options. However, this does not mean that an announcement has been made to start air taxi service in Delhi.
The master plan has not yet fixed the routes, take-off and landing sites, operators or timeline for starting the service. Any commercial service will require separate approvals and regulations from India's aviation authorities. For now, this only means that urban air transport has been formally included in the city's long-term transport plan.
**Emphasis on connectivity with Jewar Airport**
A clear proposal has been made in the Master Plan 2047 regarding connectivity to Noida International Airport (Jewar). There is a proposal to build a new corridor named 'Strategic Link-2'. The plan envisages developing this corridor towards Noida, Greater Noida and Jewar as an extension of the UER-2 network starting from Dwarka. This will not be limited to just roads; The plan calls for, wherever possible, strategic corridors to be created that allow for large-scale public transit routes, and rail-based or other public transport options.
With this, in future, passengers going from Delhi to Jewar Airport can get the option of public transport along with private vehicles or cabs. The plan also emphasizes on developing better multi-modal connectivity between Indira Gandhi International Airport and Noida International Airport by road, rail or other modes, keeping in mind the movement of passengers and goods.
**Connectivity to other parts of Delhi-NCR**
The development of the Jewar Airport Industrial Corridor and Freight Corridor is expected to transform travel and freight patterns in the National Capital Region. As a result, the Master Plan places great emphasis on strengthening regional transport connectivity. The plan also proposes a second strategic corridor to improve connectivity from Delhi to Gurugram, Jhajjar and Loni-Baghpat area of NCR.
**Helipads can be made in hospitals for emergency situations**
The scope of the master plan for air transport is not limited to air taxis only; This also includes provision of helipad to deal with emergency situations. Subject to rules, helipads can be built on the rooftops of big hospitals and multi-storey buildings. This will facilitate the use of air ambulance and rescue operations, whose purpose is to provide relief during disasters and to rapidly transport patients to hospitals. This arrangement is different from the air taxi proposal.
