FIR in pellet gun case after 31 days, Delhi Police started action after Rahul Gandhi's protest

After the protest by Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders, Delhi Police has started the process of registering an FIR on the complaint of Lochab who was injured by pellet gun. Congress leaders had also demanded action against police officers.

Tezzbuzz Desk- Delhi Police has finally started the process of registering FIR in the pellet gun case. The police took this step after the protest by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other Congress leaders. This FIR is being registered about 31 days after the incident.

Rahul Gandhi had reached Parliament Street police station with the victim Lochab on Friday. He demanded the police to register a complaint and reveal the name of the officer investigating the case. When the complaint was not registered, Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi sat on strike in the police station itself.

Accusing the police of delay in action, Rahul Gandhi said that his demand is only to register FIR and conduct a fair investigation. He had said that until the case is registered, he will not leave the police station.

Rahul Gandhi alleges that the police officers had said that there were orders from above for not registering the FIR. Calling it a serious matter, Congress leaders also demanded action against the police officers concerned.

Lochab was injured in the protest on 20th July

This case is related to the protest held at Jantar Mantar on July 20 against the NEET paper leak and alleged examination irregularities. According to Congress, Lochab was injured in the eye and stomach by a pellet during the protest. He was later admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he underwent surgery.

Rahul Gandhi, citing Lochab's medical report, questioned the claim of Delhi Police in which it had denied the use of pellet guns. According to Rahul, the medical report records that three pellets were found inside the eye.

Complaint was given on 14th August

According to the information, Lochab had contacted the police along with his lawyers on August 14 and given a written complaint, but the FIR was not registered at that time. After this, on August 17, an attempt was made to pursue the matter through email and phone, but no action was taken.

Now after Rahul Gandhi reached the police station and sat on dharna, the police has started the process of registering an FIR against unknown people on the basis of the complaint. Which sections will be included in the FIR will be known only after the case is registered.
