Amidst the ongoing fierce military standoff and tension with America and Israel in the Middle East, Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian has given a big statement regarding the end of the war. Addressing a high-level meeting held in Tehran, Pejeshkian said that Iran has currently reached a strong position of 'power and dignity' at the international level, therefore the best option now is to end this long drawn out war. Amidst the deadlock in diplomatic talks, this stand of the Iranian President is being considered an important signal towards giving a diplomatic turn to the war. 'Iran is now in a position of strength and dignity': Masoud Pezeshkian Speaking at the 31st General Conference of the Islamic Association of the Iranian Medical Society held in Tehran, President Masoud Pezeshkian said that this ongoing conflict with America must end at some point. He stressed that today Iran has proved itself strongly at both the defensive and diplomatic levels. Pejeshkian said that the whole world is watching how civilian targets, hospitals and infrastructure were targeted in violation of international rules. He claimed that in the current circumstances, Tehran's stance has strengthened on the global stage and that is why we should move towards ending the war while maintaining the country's honor. Defended the agreement signed in June: 'No question of surrender' During his address, President Pejeshkian also gave a befitting reply to the domestic criticism over the peace memorandum (MoU) signed between the two sides in June. Rejecting accusations by Iran's parliament and some radical factions that the government has bowed to the US, he called it an honorable and valuable achievement for the country. He clarified that Iran's Supreme National Security Council has supported this agreement with solidarity. There is no such thing as surrender in any point of the agreement, rather most of the mandatory commitments are attached to the other party. 'Will not bow down to bullying, any new attack will receive a devastating response' Along with advocating peace and diplomacy, President Pejeshkian also issued a strict warning to America and its allies. He made it clear that the initiative to end the war should not be considered as Iran's weakness. If there is another attack on the country's sovereignty, Iranian forces will fight to the last breath and give a befitting reply. The senior military leadership of the Iranian Armed Forces has also reiterated that the country's Army, Navy, Air Force and cyber wings are on high alert to deal with any unexpected threat. The ongoing tension over the Strait of Hormuz and economic sanctions. This statement of the President has come at a time when the conflict between the two countries over navigation in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz is at its peak.
