News Desk. A big step has been taken towards modernizing the jail system in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Now a new jail building with a capacity of 1000 prisoners will be built here. The hurdles in land and other necessary processes related to its construction have been removed to a great extent. According to officials, construction work can be started soon.
New jail complex will be built on 62 acres of land
The proposed jail building will be constructed in villages Narayanpali, Khadicha and Ghoswati along the Ballia-Gadwar road. A total of 62 acres of land is required for the project, out of which procurement of 57 acres has been completed. The rest of the process is also set to be completed soon.
The campus will be equipped with modern facilities
The new jail building will be constructed with modern facilities unlike normal jails. Anti-earthquake technology will be used in the construction. Modern technical systems will also be included in the complex to improve the security of prisoners, surveillance and jail management.
PWD got the responsibility of construction
The responsibility of construction of the new jail building has been given to the Public Works Department (PWD). After the major obstacles related to land have been removed, now preparations are on to take the construction process forward.
After the completion of the new jail, the capacity to house prisoners in the district will increase and the jail administration will get a better structure to work with modern facilities. Officials hope that the construction work will start soon.
