Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947: Emraan Hashmi's 'Awarapan 2' crossed ₹119 crore, Sunny Deol's 'Bantwara' got defeated, see eighth day collection

Awarapan 2 vs Batwara 1947 Day 8: The journey of two big films, Emraan Hashmi's 'Awarapan 2' and Sunny Deol's 'Bantwara 1947', released in theaters on August 14, has been quite different at the box office. While on one hand the low budget films are making waves at the box office, on the other hand the big budget films are struggling to attract the audience to the theatres.

The business of both the films till the eighth day and their current status has surprised the trade analysts. Let's find out, how much collection have 'Bantwara 1947' and 'Awarapan 2' made on the eighth day of their release?

'Awarapan 2' box office collection day 8

This sequel of the 2007 cult film has made a splash at the box office, being made with a budget of just ₹ 45 crores. In its first week itself, it has achieved the distinction of being the biggest solo hit of Emraan Hashmi's career by collecting a net collection of more than 252% of the budget. There was a slight decline of 8.3% in its earnings on the eighth day, but the film registered an excellent net collection of ₹ 5.50 crore with 9,858 shows.

According to the report of Sacnilk, the total net earning of this film across the country has now reached ₹ 119 crore. With a business of ₹27.30 crore in the overseas market, its total worldwide gross collection has become ₹169.17 crore. On the second Friday, its overall occupancy in Hindi 2D shows was recorded at 13%, which increased to 23.85% in night shows.

'Partition 1947' Box Office Collection Day 8

At the same time, Sunny Deol's film 'Bantwara 1947', produced by Aamir Khan and made with a huge budget of ₹ 150 crore, has lagged badly at the box office. This film also stars actors like Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol, but this patriotic film made on the background of India-Pakistan partition failed to win the hearts of the audience.

The film, which earned ₹1.35 crore on the seventh day, suffered a major setback on the eighth day and its earnings dropped by 44.4% to just ₹75 lakh. Its total net collection across the country in eight days has been only ₹ 34.35 crore. Due to poor performance in foreign markets too, its worldwide gross collection has reached only ₹49.02 crore and it has not been able to recover even half of its budget.

The looming shadow of Yash's 'Toxic'

The coming days may be challenging for both 'Awarapan 2' and 'Partition 1947'. Yash's much-awaited film 'Toxic' is going to hit the theaters on 26th August, whose advance booking has already created a stir. After the release of 'Toxic', the screen count at the box office and the audience's attention will be divided, which is expected to have a major impact on the pace of both these films. In such a situation, now it has to be seen what is going to be the condition of 'Awarapan 2' and 'Bantwara 1947' in front of Yash's Toxic.
