Mitchell Starc started the havoc by taking a wicket on the very first ball and took five wickets in the first 45 minutes of the game. The visiting team succumbed easily and none of the top-order batsmen put up any fight. Even three of the top-4 batsmen returned to the pavilion without opening their account. The lower-order batsmen held on for a while to take the score past 50, thereby avoiding their lowest ever Test score. Shoriful Islam scored the highest score of 14 runs.
In the first innings for Australia, Mitchell Starc took 6 wickets for 12 runs, while captain Pat Cummins got 3 wickets and Josh Hazlewood got one wicket. Although the pitch was helping the bowlers at the beginning of the first session, it has now become easier and looks good for batting. Australia will try to score big and strengthen their hold on the match. At present, the host team has scored 81 runs by losing 3 wickets till the 16th over and has taken a lead of 17 runs.
