The tourism board said a series of major meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE), including the 108th Lions International Convention and technology exhibition LEAP East, contributed to higher business visitor numbers and arrivals from several key source markets.
It also attributed the weaker tourism performance to adverse weather conditions.
In the first seven months of the year, Hong Kong received 31.22 million visitors, an 11% increase from the same period in 2025.

Hong Kong, known for its iconic skyline and distinctive blend of Eastern and Western influences, has become a favored destination among Vietnamese tourists.
Hong Kong ranked seventh among the 10 most searched international destinations by Vietnamese travelers for the five-day National Day holiday, according to digital travel platform Agoda.
The financial hub ranked ahead of Kuala Lumpur, Bali and Osaka, based on accommodation searches made on Agoda between May 1 and July 31, for stays between Aug. 28 and Sept. 2.
From Michelin-starred restaurants and hidden local eateries to its famous street food, Hong Kong offers a diverse culinary scene with something for every taste, Agoda wrote.
As of the 2026 Michelin Guide release on March 19, Hong Kong had 77 Michelin-starred restaurants, including seven with three stars, 13 with two stars and 57 with one star.
