Hafiz Saeed: Preparation to send warrant issued against Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed in Pahalgam terror attack to Pakistan, know what India will gain from this?

New Delhi. India has many times demanded Pakistan to hand over the list of most wanted terrorists and criminals including Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed and Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar, but Pakistan never accepted it. Now the news is that the non-bailable warrant issued by the NIA court against Hafiz Saeed in connection with the Pahalgam terrorist attack will be sent to Pakistan. News18 channel has quoted sources as saying that the warrant issued against Hafiz Saeed will be sent to Pakistan through the Ministry of External Affairs.

The NIA had filed a supplementary charge sheet related to the Pahalgam terror attack in its special court in July this year. In this supplementary charge sheet, Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed has been made an accused. NIA has described Hafiz Saeed as the head of Lashkar and The Resistance Front i.e. TRF. In the supplementary charge sheet, NIA has accused Hafiz Saeed of conspiring against India and waging war. After his name appeared in the NIA chargesheet, the court had issued a non-bailable warrant against the Lashkar leader. It will be sent to the Government of Pakistan for implementation. Now let us tell you what India will gain by issuing warrant against Hafiz Saeed? If Pakistan does not produce Hafiz Saeed in the NIA court despite the warrant, then further action will be taken.

Under Section 356 of BNSS, hearing and decision can be taken in the absence of accused living outside the country. The government wants to complete all legal formalities against Hafiz Saeed. By sending the warrant issued against Hafiz Saeed to Pakistan, it will be on record that the accused was given an opportunity to participate in the justice process. Along with this, efforts to corner Pakistan further on international forums will also be successful. The Indian government constantly accuses Pakistan of not taking necessary action against the terrorists present there. India can also ask for action against Pakistan by citing Hafiz Saeed's warrant to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
