New Delhi. There is a tussle between BJP and Congress regarding Vande Mataram. In fact, on August 19, the Congress Working Committee, while re-accepting its 1937 resolution, has decided to sing only the first two stanzas of 'Vande Mataram' in the Congress programs. BJP is furious over this and has condemned this step of the Congress. BJP National President Nitin Nabin held the first meeting with his new national team today and in this meeting an important resolution related to honoring Vande Mataram and protecting its historical heritage was passed. The meeting started with full singing of Vande Mataram.

10 points of the proposal –
1. On August 19, 2026, BJP will strongly condemn and clearly oppose the decision taken by the Congress Working Committee to limit the singing of Vande Mataram to the first two verses of Vande Mataram, reiterating the 1937 resolution.
2. BJP will protect the honor, dignity, heritage and national character of the complete Vande Mataram, considering it as the national song of India, an immortal symbol of national consciousness and a glorious heritage of the freedom struggle.
3. BJP stands strongly on the declaration of the Constituent Assembly in 1950 and the granting of statutory protection to Vande Mataram by the Parliament in 2026, similar to Jana Gana Mana.
4. BJP will oppose every attempt to subordinate the national anthem to communal pressure, political appeasement or narrow vote-bank politics.
5. The Congress will be reminded that no proposal of its Working Committee can be above the constitutional institutions of India and the laws made by the Parliament. The political agreement of 1937 cannot be placed above the constitutional decision of 1950 and the law made by the Parliament in 2026.
6. The public will be exposed to the historical and political context in which the singing of Vande Mataram was limited, including the objections of the Muslim League and the subsequent politics of rising communal and separatist demands.
7. That historical statement of Mahatma Gandhi will be made available to the people, in which he had described Vande Mataram as an anti-imperialist slogan and associated with the purest national sentiment.
8. BJP will run a nationwide campaign, under which the history, meaning, national importance and glorious heritage of Vande Mataram will be taken to every corner of India.
9. A special awareness campaign will be launched among the young generation regarding Vande Mataram, so that the full six-stanza national song and its history are not allowed to go into oblivion and the coming generations can understand how deep the memories of India's independence, struggle, sacrifice and national awakening are associated with Vande Mataram.
10. No compromise with the honor and legacy of Vande Mataram for political convenience or appeasement will be accepted.
