There were speculations in the film industry for many months about which actress would bring alive Madhubala's unique beauty, innocence, bubbliness and painful life on screen. After discussing many big names, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has expressed his confidence in Sara Arjun. As a child artiste, Sara Arjun has proved her acting ability by playing Aishwarya Rai's childhood character (Nandini) in Mani Ratnam's historical film 'Ponniyin Selvan' (PS-1 and PS-2) and in many popular advertisements and films. Her classical beauty, facial expressions and serious screen presence have been considered the perfect fit for Madhubala's youthful and classic look. The first shooting schedule will start from September. According to sources associated with the production team, the pre-production work of the film is almost complete. Construction of lavish sets to recreate vintage Bombay and historic film studios of the 1950s and 1960s is in the final stages at Mumbai's Film City. Bhansali Productions is planning to shoot the initial scenes of the film in the first fortnight of September. Sara Arjun has also started special training in Kathak dance, Urdu diction and body language of that era to completely adapt to this role. Depicting Madhubala's struggles, stardom and incomplete love story, the biopic will not be limited to Madhubala's film stardom and her blockbuster films (like 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Mahal', 'Howrah Bridge' and 'Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi'). The film will showcase his journey from child actor to superstar, the heavy burden of family responsibilities, his painful struggle with severe congenital heart disease (Ventricular Septal Defect) and the untouched aspects of his complex and incomplete love stories with utmost sensitivity and depth. Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Vintage Cinematic Magic Sanjay Leela Bhansali has mastered the art of presenting period dramas and vibrant stories from the pages of history on screen in a magical manner. After classic films like 'Devdas', 'Bajirao Mastani', 'Padmavat' and 'Gangubai Kathiawadi', this project of Bhansali will be like paying tribute to the Golden Era of Indian cinema. The music, costumes and cinematography of the film will reflect the grandeur and elegance of that era.
