Dead bodies of four members of a Hindu family found in their house in Bangladesh

Dhaka, 23 August 2026: A shocking incident has come to light in Rangpur city of Bangladesh, where the dead bodies of retired Hindu teacher Ganpati Chakraborty and his wife, daughter and son have been found in their house. After losing contact with the family, the police entered the house on Saturday night by breaking the lock and found dead bodies of four family members in different parts of the house.

Police and CID teams have sealed the incident spot and started a thorough investigation into the matter.

What is the whole matter?

According to the report of 'The Daily Star', Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station officer Najmul Kader said that the police broke the lock of the house on Saturday night and took out the bodies of four persons.

The deceased have been identified as Ganpati Chakraborty (65), a retired teacher of Rangpur District School, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty (50), their daughter Akhilesh Chakraborty Prarthi (23) and their son Priyam Chakraborty (12). Police have registered the case and started investigation.

Ganapathy retired from Rangpur District School on 31 December. His daughter Akadhya obtained a master's degree in English from Rangpur Carmichael College this year, while his son Priyam was a class five student of Rangpur District School.

Everyone's phones were switched off since Thursday afternoon

Ganapathy's family members had said that they started getting worried after losing contact with their family members. He last spoke to the family on Thursday afternoon; Since then all his mobile phones were switched off.

A family member said, “We went to Daspara on Saturday night after hearing that their phones were switched off. The main doors were locked and all the lights inside were off. Later the police came and broke the lock to enter the house, where they found the dead bodies.”

At present, the family members cannot understand who might have killed the four family members or what could be the motive behind it.

Ganapati's sister-in-law said, “Don't explain to me who killed my sister and her entire family, or why and when it happened. My sister's husband was a very good man. He had no enemies. He had built a new house in Daspara and lived there.”
