Not much time has passed since the Jantar Mantar movement ended, but once again political and student politics have heated up regarding its promises. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has warned of fresh protests, accusing the central government of going back on the promises made.
The party clearly says that till now no concrete action has been taken on the assurances given to end the peaceful protest. CJP clearly said in a press conference on Sunday that if the government does not fulfill its promises, the movement will be revived. The party has called an important meeting on August 24 to decide the future strategy.
CJP made serious allegations against the government for breach of promise.
According to CJP, some concrete assurances were received from the government during the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar. Expressing confidence in these promises, the decision to withdraw the movement was taken. However, now the party alleges that the government is deliberately postponing those promises.
In the press conference, CJP leaders said that making promises to end the protests and later going back on them is a betrayal of the youth. The party has demanded from the Central Government that the assurances given to the youth should be fulfilled in time. However, there is no official response from the government on these allegations yet, which is awaited.
The issue of cancellation of FIR of student protests also heated up
CJP also strongly raised the issue of FIRs registered during student movements. The party claims that several requests have been made to the court to withdraw these cases and cancel the FIR, but the government has not yet submitted the list of related cases to the court.
CJP says that the government should have completed this sensitive process on time. Laxity on these cases related to the future of the youth will not be accepted at any cost. Now the legal process and the status of government documents are going to prove to be very important in this matter.
'This is a betrayal of the youth of the country'
In the press conference, CJP said in sharp words that the movement was ended only by relying on the joint press conference and government promises. The party warned that any attempt to dilute, delay or misinterpret the promises would be considered a betrayal. The promises made to the youth should not be limited to just paper or talks, but should also be implemented on the ground.
The next big strategy meeting will be held on August 24.
CJP has set August 24 as the date to prepare the roadmap for its next strategy. According to the party, the final decision on further steps will be taken in this meeting.
This is clearly indicating that if no positive steps are taken by the government till then, the protests may start again. However, the form of the new movement and where it will be organized will be revealed only on August 24.
Appeal to students and youth across the country to be prepared
CJP has appealed to the students, youth, supporters and its workers across the country to be united and prepared for the events of August 24. The party says that they are not going to back down until all the promises regarding the rights of the youth are fulfilled. Now everyone's eyes are on this important meeting of 24th August. If there is no consensus between the two sides, then the student movement may once again be seen on the streets in the coming days.
