Pregnant Defence Ministry Officer Found Dead in Delhi; Husband, In‑Laws Booked

A tragic incident has shaken the capital as Nazia Khanam (30), an Assistant Section Officer at the Ministry of Defence, was found dead at her home in Dwarka on Friday. She was three months pregnant.

Police said Nazia had married Mohammad Azam Ali Khan in April 2024. On the day of the incident, the couple returned from a hospital check‑up and reportedly argued. Nazia then locked herself in a room and took her life.

Her family later accused her husband and in‑laws of dowry harassment, physical assault, and mental abuse, prompting police to register cases under Section 85 (cruelty by husband/relatives) and Section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The family has also demanded inclusion of Section 80 (dowry death).

Police confirmed that Nazia’s husband is currently absconding, while investigations continue. The body was sent to DDU Hospital for post‑mortem, and further legal action will follow once facts are established.
