New York. A case of an Indian citizen being shot dead has come to light in New York City, America. According to media reports, there was an argument between two people, after which one person shot the other. After the incident, the accused fled from the spot in a car. The police team reached the spot and admitted the injured person to the hospital, where he was declared dead. At present the police team is investigating the incident. After this incident, the North American Punjabi Association on Sunday expressed grief and concern over the murder of Gurdeep Singh.
Shot near Stanley Avenue
According to media reports, a 27-year-old Indian national was shot dead by an unidentified person in New York City after an argument. Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Queens, was shot near Stanley Avenue in East New York area on Friday night at around 10 pm (local time), due to which he died. After the incident the suspect fled from the spot. When police arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot in the chest. According to CBS News, paramedics took the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Surveillance video obtained by CBS News shows two men fighting in the street followed by a flash of light (possibly a gunshot). The report said one person fell to the ground and the other drove away in a car. Police searched for evidence in the area till Saturday morning. No one has been arrested so far and the matter is under investigation. Anthony Santos, who works near the scene, told CBS News the incident left him “shocked” and “scared.”
Outrage over murder incident
The US-based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) on Sunday expressed grief and concern over the murder of Gurdeep Singh. Gurdeep Singh came to America more than a decade ago. NAPA Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal said the incident should not be considered an isolated case. He said, “Every time a young Punjabi or Sikh person is murdered, a family is devastated. We cannot allow repeated violence to become something that the community simply learns to live with.” NAPA urged investigators to find out the true motive behind the murder and warned against jumping to conclusions before the investigation is complete.
