Tragedy in Lucknow: Murder of Divya Mishra and family
Lucknow : Police have revealed many important facts in the case of death of bank manager Divya Mishra, her sister-in-law Sheeba and SBI officer Manas Vajpayee. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Manas did not take this step suddenly. He had arranged three weapons in advance and monitored the movements of his wife Divya for about two days. According to the police, divorce and family dispute are the two main reasons behind this incident.
Dispute during divorce hearing
According to media reports, the divorce hearing was held in the Family Court on August 18. During this time, there was a dispute between the husband and wife regarding alimony of about Rs 1.5 crore. Moreover, Divya did not want to live with her sister-in-law Sheeba, which increased the tension. Police say that after the hearing, Manas became stressed and made a dreadful plan.
incident in the bank
On August 20, Manas reached Divya's ICICI Bank and called her to ask her out. There was an argument between the two, which later turned into a fight. The bank guards and employees ran to intervene, but in the meantime Manas shot Divya. This incident was captured in the CCTV installed outside the bank.
situation after the incident
After Divya falls, Manas runs away from there and reaches his home. According to the police, he closed the door of the room and played Hanuman Chalisa at high volume on the TV. After this he shot his sister Sheeba and then shot himself.
Weapons arrangement and monitoring
Investigation has also revealed that Manas had arranged for three weapons before the incident, which included two 9 mm pistols and a pistol. Police have recovered all the weapons and are now trying to trace their source.
rift and tension in relationship
Manas and Divya had a love marriage in 2017. Initially their relationship was fine, but later disputes started increasing. In 2018, after Manas's mother was diagnosed with cancer, Divya decided to live with him again. But the tension regarding Sheeba increased. After the death of Manas' mother in 2019, Divya decided to separate again. Ultimately, in January 2026, Divya filed a divorce case in the family court.
whatsapp status and mental state
After Divya's murder, Manas posted a status on WhatsApp in which he accused his wife of cheating. Police are now investigating the claims made in this status.
Mental tension and preparation for crime
A friend of Manas told that he was out of bank audit work for three months. After returning, he got information about the court hearing on 18th August, after which his stress increased and he planned the crime.
