'The central staff's bat-bat!' Basic pay may double in the 8th Pay Commission, know how much your salary will increase

Lakhs of government employees and pensioners of the country are keeping an eye on every update related to the 8th Pay Commission. At present, the biggest discussion is about 'Fitment Factor'. Demand has been raised by different employee organizations to keep the fitment factor from 3.78 to 4.00.

However, experts and economic experts believe that it is difficult to implement such a high fitment factor. Let us tell you that the revised basic salary of central employees is decided on the basis of the coefficient of this fitment factor, which is why all the unions and associations are pressurizing to keep it as high as possible.

Will the total salary really double?

If the fitment factor 2.0 is fixed under the 8th Pay Commission, then the basic pay of the employees will increase to double. However, this does not at all mean that the in-hand or take-home gross salary will also double. The total salary of any government employee includes basic pay along with dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA) and other allowances.

If we look at the history, when 1.86 fitment factor was implemented in the 6th Pay Commission, there was an increase of about 54 percent in the gross salary of the employees. At the same time, in the 7th Pay Commission, a fitment factor of 2.57 was fixed, due to which the gross salary of the employees increased by about 14.29 percent.
