Moscow. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. During this, he handed over a special message to Putin on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jaishankar said that Prime Minister Modi has sent him a personal message, which he wants to give to the Russian President.
During the meeting, Jaishankar also mentioned India-Russia relations and the growing economic cooperation between the two countries. He said that there has been significant progress in cooperation between the two countries in many areas including trade, energy, fertilizers, nuclear sector.
PM Modi's message to Putin-
During the meeting with Putin, Jaishankar said that he has brought good wishes from Prime Minister Modi. He told that PM Modi has sent a personal message to the Russian President.
Jaishankar also said that an inter-governmental commission meeting has taken place between India and Russia and the results of the meeting have been positive. Economic cooperation between the two countries has gained momentum.
Modi-Putin will meet in SCO and BRICS-
The External Affairs Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is looking forward to meeting Russian President Putin at the SCO summit. After this, PM Modi will welcome Putin at the BRICS summit to be held in India.
He said that after this, progress will also be made in the direction of organizing an annual summit as per the convenience of both the leaders.
Important meeting with Deputy PM of Russia also-
Jaishankar on Monday co-chaired the 27th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on India-Russia Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.
During this, both the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Jaishankar said that despite the changing global circumstances, India-Russia relations have continuously strengthened.
Jaishankar will also meet Lavrov-
Jaishankar will also meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his two-day visit to Russia. The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues.
Jaishankar and Lavrov had earlier met in Manila in July. During that time, apart from India-Russia relations, the two leaders also discussed the Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia.
Relations are deep from defense to energy-
India and Russia have long had strategic and strong relations. Cooperation between the two countries continues in many important areas including defence, energy, trade, economy, science-technology and nuclear sector.
In the current visit, both the countries are working towards increasing economic cooperation as well as deciding the future path on issues related to energy, fertilizers, trade and strategic partnership.
