This is very important news for government employees. Now, after the implementation of the recommendations of the eighth pay, the amount of increase in the salary of the employees is decided by the fitment factor. However, the fitment factor has not been decided yet.
What is fitment factor?
Fitment factor is a multiplier used to convert the old basic salary into the new pay structure. The calculation for this is done like this: Old Basic Salary × Fitment Factor = New Basic Salary. For example, a fitment factor of 2.57 was implemented in the Seventh Pay Commission. Due to this, the basic salary of Rs 7000 increased to Rs 18,000.
- At 1.83 fitment factor – Rs 32,940 salary
- At 2.0 fitment factor – Rs 36,000
- At 2.57 fitment factor – Rs 46,260
- At 3.83 fitment factor – Rs 68,940
That is, after applying 3.83 fitment factor, the basic salary of Rs 18,000 can directly become Rs 68,940. However, this is just a possible estimate.
Big increase in second level also
For example, the basic salary of Rs 29,200 in Level 5 can go up to Rs 1,11,836 by a factor of 3.83. Whereas in level 10, the basic salary of Rs 56,100 can go up to Rs 2,14,863. In Level 18, the basic salary of Rs 2.50 lakh can go up to Rs 9.57 lakh by a factor of 3.83.
When will the final decision be taken?
The 8th Central Pay Commission is currently seeking suggestions and opinions from individual employees, pensioners and other stakeholders. The commission is studying the changes to be made in pay structure, fitment factor, pay matrix, DA, DR, HRA and other allowances.
