New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced to provide major relief to the people of the state by announcing several major decisions in the Assembly. The government will provide three free LPG cylinders to poor families every year. Along with this, it has also been announced to increase the scope of free bus travel for women. At the same time, the government has made its stand clear in the interest of the local people regarding the new airport of Chennai.
Chief Minister Vijay announced 'Annapurnani Super Six' scheme. This scheme will be implemented from Pongal 2027. Under this, three free LPG cylinders will be given every year to those families whose annual income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh. The government estimates that about 1.30 crore families will benefit from this scheme. About Rs 4 thousand crores are expected to be spent every year from the state treasury on this. Under the scheme, beneficiaries will first have to purchase the cylinder and after that its full price will be sent directly to their bank account.
Free travel for women in many buses
The Chief Minister has also made a big expansion regarding free bus travel for women. Now this facility will not be limited to normal buses only. Women will also be able to travel free in express, LSS and deluxe buses. Apart from this, women traveling in inter-district buses will also get the benefit of free travel under 'Vetri Payana Thittam'. This facility will be started from October 2. The government has also said that transgender passengers will be included in the scope of free bus travel.
Government's stand clear on Parandur Airport
Vijay also clarified the government's position in the Assembly regarding the proposed new airport in Parandur, Chennai. He said that the government is looking for a place where local families do not have to face displacement due to the construction of the airport. He said that the local people have opposed the Parandur project and the government stands with the affected families.
Some alternative locations have also been identified for the new airport. Along with this, it was announced to build Terminal 5 at the existing Meenambakkam Airport in Chennai. The Chief Minister said that farmers are the backbone of the country and their interests cannot be ignored in development plans.
