Kanpur: A surprising case regarding food items has come to light from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. A large number of chocolates and toffees were seen dumped near the dumping site in Panki Industrial Area. Its video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In the video, many people are seen picking up chocolates and toffees lying on the roadside and taking them with them. It is being told that these chocolates and toffees were thrown there because they were expired for sale.

People carried away in bags and sacks
According to information, a large quantity of chocolates and toffees were allegedly thrown from a factory in Panki Industrial Area near the dumping site. As soon as the people nearby got information about this, a crowd of people started gathering there. In the viral video, someone is seen picking up chocolates with his hands while someone else is seen carrying them in bags, sacks and boxes. Some people are seen collecting such large quantities of stuff that it is not clear for what purpose they were going to use it.
Question on food items thrown in the open
This incident has raised serious questions regarding the safe disposal of food items. If these chocolates and toffees were indeed expired or unfit for sale, they should have been safely destroyed as per the rules instead of being left in the open.
Any person can pick up such food items lying in the open and use them. This can pose a health risk, especially when accurate information about the expiry, storage and quality of the product is not available.

At present there has been no independent or official confirmation of the viral video. It is also not clear which company or factory the chocolates and toffees belonged to and on whose instructions they were thrown there.
