Tottenham Hotspur FC have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million. The 22-year-old becomes the latest addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad, with Spurs’ summer expenditure now moving beyond £300 million. The Savio transfer also sets a new record for Manchester City’s highest-value player sale, eclipsing Julian Alvarez’s £82-million switch to Atletico Madrid in 2024. Savio will wear the No.17 shirt at the north London club.
Savio Transfer Details: Tottenham Pay Up To £85m For Brazilian Winger
Tottenham Hotspur will pay Manchester City FC an initial £75m for Savio, while the agreement contains another £10 million in performance-related additions. Of that bonus package, £5 million is understood to be effectively guaranteed, meaning the Premier League champions are set to receive at least £80 million.
The transfer concludes a pursuit that stretches back to last summer, when Spurs were unable to sign the Brazil international. Savio, who previously used the name Savinho at Man City, has now asked to be known as Savio and will have the name printed on his Tottenham shirt.
Spurs have already invested heavily in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, while Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi arrived as free agents.
Savio leaves Manchester City after making 84 appearances and scoring seven goals.
Why Did Savio Opt For Tottenham Transfer?
Savio’s decision was strongly influenced by the opportunity to work under Roberto De Zerbi. The Brazilian said discussions with the Tottenham manager convinced him that north London was the right destination for his development.
The Spurs winger arrives with a growing reputation for his attacking ability. During his breakthrough 2023-24 season at Girona, Savio recorded 104 successful dribbles in La Liga, 18 more than any other player in the competition. He also scored 11 goals in 41 appearances as Girona finished third and qualified for the Champions League for the first time.
Savio joined Man City in 2024 and was part of their domestic cup double last season. He also has 13 Brazil caps and one international goal.
With his pace, one-v-one ability and experience across Spain and England, Tottenham will expect Savio to add another dynamic attacking option to De Zerbi’s set-up.
