DRDO Missile Tech Transfer to Boost Indigenous Production

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the transfer of missile technologies developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to Indian defence companies for domestic production.

The Ministry of Defence said the initiative will bridge the gap between development and large‑scale industrial production, ensuring a smooth transition of missile systems into manufacturing while adhering to all regulatory and qualification requirements.

The transfer is expected to strengthen India’s defence industrial base, enabling greater indigenous manufacturing of advanced missile systems. It will also open up opportunities for MSMEs and technology partners to join the missile supply chain, expanding participation across the sector.

According to the ministry, the provision reflects DRDO’s continued efforts to leverage Indian industry capabilities for the development and manufacture of advanced defence systems.

Officials noted that the move marks a significant step towards industrial expansion, allowing domestic companies to contribute to India’s self‑reliance in defence and reinforcing the country’s strategic preparedness.
