Mumbai: Actor Akshay Oberoi has joined the season four cast of Prakash Jha’s Ashramheadlined by Bobby Deol.
Oberoi, who also features in Yash’s Toxic as well Shah Rukh Khan-led Kingsaid joining a show like Ashram was genuinely exciting.
“Prakash Jha sir has a very unique way of telling stories, and the characters in this universe are never straightforward. When I heard about my character, I was immediately intrigued,” he said in a statement.
His role is still under wraps but Oberoi said working on the series challenged him as an actor.
“I’m really looking forward to being part of this world and working with Prakash Jha and the incredible team,” he added.
Created and directed by Jha, Ashram premiered in 2020 and follows the rise of Kashipur Wale Baba Nirala, a self-styled godman played by Deol, whose carefully built image of a benevolent spiritual leader conceals a web of crime, exploitation and political influence.
The series also features Aaditi Pohankar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Darshan Kumaar, Anupriya Goenka and Tridha Choudhury in key roles.
The fourth season recently went into production, with Jha returning to helm the latest chapter and Deol reprising his role as Baba Nirala.
