Deep Look
Secret Service acknowledges apparent threat
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Tuesday that it is aware of an Iranian state media video that appears to threaten Barron Trump, President Donald Trump’s youngest son.
“The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” agency spokesperson Nate Herring said in a statement.
“Out of concern for operational security, we do not discuss matters of protective intelligence,” Herring added.
The agency did not disclose whether it had determined the threat to be credible, whether an investigation was underway or whether Barron Trump’s security arrangements had been changed.
Iranian broadcaster reportedly references bounty
The video was released over the weekend by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, whose leader is appointed by Iran’s supreme leader.
According to HuffPost and CNN, it opens with the title, “Where to kill Barron Trump?” and appears to reference an alleged $10 million reward.
The video contains graphics purporting to identify places where Barron Trump spends time, including Trump Tower in New York and college dormitories. It also presents details about his activities, personal connections and the movements of his security personnel.
The video claims the 20-year-old is “fully monitored” and suggests that people were “eagerly waiting to receive our $10 million reward,” according to CNN.
The descriptions and assertions presented in the propaganda video have not been independently verified.
Video ends with direct warning
The video reportedly concludes with an explicit warning directed at the president’s son.
“This is just the beginning,” the video says. “Barron Trump, wait for us.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Barron Trump has generally maintained a lower public profile than the president’s other children. The college student has occasionally joined his parents at prominent events, including Trump’s 2025 inauguration and UFC events held at the White House during the summer.
Earlier video appeared to target Melania Trump
Iranian media released similar content in July that appeared to threaten first lady Melania Trump.
That video included images of her motorcade and locations around New York City. It identified some designer stores and suggested they could be “suitable for operations by global freedom fighters.”
The Secret Service has not publicly detailed its assessment of either video.
Threatening rhetoric increased after Soleimani killing
Concerns about possible Iranian plots targeting American officials have existed for years, but public threats against Trump and his family escalated after he ordered the 2020 airstrike that killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
The rhetoric intensified again after Trump launched the U.S. war against Iran alongside Israel and ordered the joint operation that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Since Khamenei’s killing, Iranian media have repeatedly circulated threatening content involving Trump and members of his family.
Trump has spoken publicly about Iranian threats
Trump discussed reported Iranian threats against him during a NATO summit in Turkey last month.
“They want to take out the U.S. leader — me,” Trump told reporters, referring to an Israeli intelligence warning about an alleged Iranian plot.
“I’m on whatever list. I saw this morning I I’m on every single one of their lists,” he said. “And so far, I guess I’ve been a bit lucky, but maybe that doesn’t last very long.”
Trump departed Turkey aboard an unmarked aircraft instead of Air Force One after being informed of a reported threat, according to previous reporting.
The Secret Service’s statement about the Barron Trump video indicates that the agency is assessing the latest apparent threat but is withholding further information to protect its security operations.
