Increasing outbreak of H1N1 in Delhi
In view of the increasing cases of H1N1 (swine flu) and seasonal influenza in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called an emergency review meeting. Health Minister Pankaj Singh said that this year around 3,000 cases of influenza have been reported in Delhi. Of these, 2,308 cases are of H1N1 infection, while about 600-650 cases are related to other variants of influenza.

100 MW electricity will be generated from waste in Delhi
MCD's Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants will be expanded to boost waste disposal and power generation in Delhi. This will increase the capacity for daily garbage disposal and will also increase power generation. An important proposal related to the expansion of Okhla, Ghazipur and other waste-to-energy plants was approved in the meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House held on Monday. According to the corporation, after increasing the capacity of these plants, a large amount of waste can be disposed of daily.

Demonstration of students regarding admission in Jamia University
In Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia University, students created a ruckus over the admission process and demonstrated on the streets. Student organizations National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Students Federation of India (SFI) alleged irregularities and corruption in the university's admission process. Student organizations claim that transparency is not being maintained in the admission process in the university.

Arvind Kejriwal's open challenge to BJP
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has issued an open challenge targeting BJP regarding the government schools of Punjab. He has talked about conducting a joint inspection of 1000-1000 government schools of Punjab and Gujarat, so that a real assessment of the condition of the schools of both the states and the work done there can be done. Kejriwal alleged that BJP is trying to defame Punjab by sharing the video of Punjab government school of 2018 on social media. He said that an attempt is being made to show the current situation through old videos.

Currently no relief for Satyendar Jain in DJB tender case: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain in the alleged STP tender scam case related to Delhi Jal Board (DJB). The court can now give its verdict on September 3. The bail plea of Satyendar Jain, arrested in this case, was heard in the court. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court reserved its order. 150 KM long green corridor will be built in Delhi: Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has started preparations under Master Plan 2047 to provide relief to Delhi from pollution and to strengthen the green area of the city. Under the plan, work will be done to connect the big parks and biodiversity parks of the capital through green corridors. To take this scheme forward, DDA is initiating meetings with various stakeholders. The authority will involve representatives from different departments of Delhi as well as environmentalists and those working in the field of environmental protection in this project. Settlement of traffic challans can be done in SDM office: Preparations are being made to ease the process of settlement of lakhs of traffic challans pending for a long time in the capital Delhi. The Delhi government is considering giving the power to collect challans to all 39 SDMs and some officers of the transport department. For this, the Transport Department has prepared a proposal and sent it to the Delhi Government. The proposal may soon be placed before the cabinet. Delhi Police learned a lesson from Jantar Mantar violence: In view of the violence that took place during the students' demonstration on July 20 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and the subsequent large-scale demonstrations, Delhi Police has decided to make changes in its intelligence system. The police will now lay more emphasis on intelligence gathering and analysis before large or proposed demonstrations. According to sources, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar has given instructions to the Intelligence Wing i.e. Special Branch in this regard. Now, before any major or proposed demonstration, it has been asked to collect information on at least 10 important points and analyze it in depth. (Read full news)
