Said- Government is trying to avoid the issue of inflation by engaging in absurd things.
New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge hit out at the BJP-led Central government over the rise in prices of essential food items ahead of festivals, claiming that it was trying to avoid the issue of inflation by indulging in diverting stunts and absurdities.
Kharge said in a post on social media platform X that Congress and the public will continue to ask questions about inflation. He also shared a chart showing the increased prices of food items and, referring to the common man's kitchen, targeted the government over the rising prices of onion, sugar and mustard oil.
He claimed that onion prices have increased by 59 percent in a year and in many cities it is being sold at Rs 50 to Rs 60 per kg. He said that the price of sugar has gone up to Rs 60-70 per kg and in some places it is being sold up to Rs 72 per kg.
According to him, the price of mustard oil has crossed Rs 200 per litre. Referring to food inflation at 5.52 percent and wholesale inflation at 9.78 percent, Kharge said that inflation is affecting the household budget of the common man.
The Congress President said that during the tenure of nearly 12 years of the BJP government, the situation of good days is such that sometimes the prices of pulses, sometimes vegetables, sometimes oil and sometimes sugar are spoiling the budget of the common man.
