Delhi High Court has made important comments regarding husband-wife relationship and marital disputes. The bench of Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav of Delhi High Court made this comment in a case related to a matrimonial dispute. The court was hearing the appeal of a man challenging his 3-year jail sentence awarded by the Sessions Court. The Sessions Court had convicted the man of trying to kill his wife by pouring Begon spray in her mouth and sentenced him to three years' imprisonment. While hearing the case, the High Court, while commenting on the relationship between husband and wife and marital disputes, said that marriage is one of the beautiful relationships of human beings, but when problems arise in the relationship and they are not resolved on time, then bitterness can increase in them.
Delhi High Court acquitted Nafe Singh in the case of allegedly trying to kill his wife by pouring Begon spray on her. The bench of Justice Vimal Kumar Yadav said that the prosecution could not prove the allegations of intention and knowledge required under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) with strong evidence. The court said that the evidence presented in the record of the case was not strong enough to convict the accused. Giving benefit of doubt to Nafe Singh, the bench said that it is not safe to take action against a person on the basis of such weak evidence. The Sessions Court had earlier sentenced Nafe Singh to three years in jail for attempting to kill his wife. While hearing the appeal filed against him, the High Court evaluated the prosecution evidence and acquitted the accused as sufficient evidence was not found.

High Court acquitted husband in 26 year old case

According to the prosecution, within about a year of their marriage, tension had arisen in their relationship. According to the prosecution, an attempt was first made to allegedly administer the pesticide through a glass and when that failed, it was alleged that he poured it directly down his throat from the container. An FIR was registered against Nafe Singh and his mother in the case.
The accused denied the allegations
During the hearing of the case, Nafe Singh denied the allegations against him. His mother was acquitted by the Sessions Court, while Nafe Singh was convicted of attempt to murder and sentenced to three years' imprisonment. While hearing the appeal in the High Court, the bench also took into consideration the background of the marital dispute. According to the court, the woman wanted to leave her widowed mother and live with her husband in a separate house, which had led to a marital dispute. Later, the High Court acquitted Nafe Singh by giving him the benefit of doubt considering that the prosecution evidence was not sufficient.
