Apple has refreshed its desktop Mac lineup in India, launching new versions of the Mac mini and Mac Studio with upgraded chips, improved AI performance and faster connectivity. The new devices are set to go on sale in India from September 22.
The new Mac mini is available with Apple’s M6 or M5 Pro chips. The M6 model features a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU, along with Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. It comes with 16GB unified memory as standard, configurable up to 32GB, and offers memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s.
For users looking for more power, the M5 Pro version of the Mac mini offers up to an 18-core CPU and 20-core GPU. It supports up to 64GB unified memory and delivers memory bandwidth of up to 307GB/s. Apple has positioned the upgraded machines as powerful compact desktops capable of handling demanding AI and professional workloads.
Apple has also upgraded connectivity on the Mac mini, adding Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet, with an option for 10Gb Ethernet. The M6 model comes with three Thunderbolt 4 ports at the rear, while the M5 Pro variant gets three Thunderbolt 5 ports. Both versions also feature front USB-C ports, HDMI and a headphone jack.
Meanwhile, the new Mac Studio is powered by M5 Max or the new M5 Ultra chip. The M5 Max configuration features an 18-core CPU and up to a 40-core GPU, while the more powerful M5 Ultra can be configured with up to a 36-core CPU and 80-core GPU. The M5 Ultra model also supports up to 512GB of unified memory and memory bandwidth of up to 1.2TB/s, making it Apple’s most powerful Mac for demanding professional and AI workloads.
Apple has also introduced faster storage based on a next-generation PCIe Gen 6 SSD architecture. The Mac Studio supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 and can drive up to eight displays, according to the company.
In India, the refreshed Mac mini starts at Rs 99,900, while the new Mac Studio starts at Rs 2,79,900. Both devices will be available from September 22, with Apple already listing the new models for pre-order on its India store.
The Mac refresh comes just ahead of Apple’s major fall hardware event, where the company is expected to unveil its next-generation iPhone lineup, including the iPhone 18 Pro.
