America Imposes Sanctions: There is no sign of tension in the Middle East slowing down. Meanwhile, America has imposed new sanctions on Iran and India has also fallen prey to it. Expanding the scope of its economic steps against Iran, the Trump administration has imposed sanctions on 4 Indian companies and 3 Indian citizens. This step may bring new tension in the already complex US-India relationship.
On Monday, the US State Department imposed sanctions on Indian customs brokerage firm Partners LLP. It is alleged that this firm had helped in bringing many consignments of petrochemical products from Iran to India. Its partners Idrismia Ashrafmia Shaikh and Harish Ramchandra Rangi (both Indian citizens) have been banned.
Ban imposed on 3 companies
- Sadashiv Overseas Limited (accused of importing Iranian petroleum products worth approximately $69 million between February 2024 and June 2025)
- PP Softech Pvt Ltd (approximately $25 million between January 2024 and June 2025)
- Prakritis Infra Impex India Private Limited (approximately $25 million between May 2023 and February 2026)
Prashant Garg banned
Information is coming out that sanctions were also imposed on PP Softtech director Prashant Garg. The total value of imports involved is approximately $120 million. This ban of America is clearly indicating that America is trying to isolate Iran in the world by imposing more sanctions. Doing business with Iran is no longer just a matter of complying with US sanctions imposed on Iran. Foreign middlemen, importers, brokers, shipping companies and financial institutions can also fall prey to this.

What did the US Finance Minister say?
According to US Finance Minister Scott Besant, the purpose of this campaign is to destroy Iran's remaining financial sources. Sectors like oil, petrochemicals, shipping, banking, technology, gold, aviation and digital assets are being targeted. During this period, sanctions were imposed on about 60 institutions, individuals and ships.
India reduced economic relations with America
India has significantly reduced economic ties with Iran over the years, but Chabahar Port (which gives India access to Afghanistan) and exports such as rice, tea, medicines are still important. Due to impact of Dubai based trade and financial transactions, problems in payment and shipping may increase.
According to analysts, the already affected relations may worsen due to tariffs, Russia and the transactional attitude of the Trump administration. Asia policy expert Evan Feigenbaum said that these sanctions will affect US-India relations.
