Fenerbahce produced an impressive display to knock out French opponent Lyon and advance to the group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2026-27.
The two sides were level at 1-1 after the first leg, but the Turkish side opened up a two-goal lead inside the first half on the back of goals from Vedat Muriqi and Archie Brown.
Young Belgian winger Malick Fofana pulled one back for the French side in the second half before Loic Openda and Kail Boudache had goals ruled out, but Lyon ultimately failed to produce a second goal to send the tie beyond 90 minutes.
There was chaos once the full-time whistle had been blown, with both sets of players and staff involved in a fracas.

Greece’s AEK Athens dumped Levski Sofia in crushing fashion. The tie was goalless in the first leg, but a brace from Hungarian Barnabas Varga and a goal from former Real Madrid and AC Milan striker Luka Jovic put the Greek side comfortably ahead on the night before Razvan Marin’s penalty put it 4-0 up.
Dinamo Zagreb took an early lead against Norway’s Viking, but it hit back with three goals to progress 5-3 on aggregate. Zlatko Tripic scored the equaliser from the spot before Edvin Austbo and Tobias Moi confirmed its progress.
Slovan Bratislava sealed its second group-stage qualification in three years after besting Slovenia’s Celje. The tie was level at 1-1 after the first leg, and 90 minutes produced the same scoreline before Panama’s Cristian Martinez scored the winner in the 100th minute.
