Many roads suddenly caved in due to waterlogging at many places. Due to road subsidence near Saraiya intersection of Jajmau, a crater about 3 meters wide and 18 feet deep was formed. Rain water continued to seep into this pit. Seeing this scene, the people around were horrified and a crowd gathered at the spot. The video of the incident also went viral on social media.

18 feet deep pit formed on VIP road

Traffic was stopped. The road from Jajmau to Circuit House suddenly caved in near Saraiya intersection on Wednesday morning. Within a short time, a pit about 18 feet deep formed here. The road subsidence caused panic among drivers and pedestrians. Police reached the spot and got barricading done around the pit. Along with this, traffic on the road was stopped as a precaution. Due to continuous rain there was danger on the surrounding roads also.

The road had caved in even two months ago

Even after complaint no permanent solution was found. According to former councilor Shamim Akhtar, there was a pit at the same place about two months ago. A complaint about this was made to the Municipal Corporation. After this, the Water Department team filled the pit with debris.

Local people say that after this the road gradually started settling again and on Wednesday a large part of it caved in. The sewer line of the tannery and the line carrying contaminated water from Sisamau drain towards Wajidpur are passing under the road.

Fear of leakage in sewer line

Questions on underground pipelines and cables. According to local people, recently mobile companies have also laid cables under the road. It is alleged that due to leakage in the sewer line the ground weakened and the road caved in.

This road was earlier beautified by the Municipal Corporation at a cost of about Rs 4 crore. The local businessman also told that a pit had already been formed here. He says that due to lack of permanent solution to the problem, the road has now become more dangerous.
