Business Desk – India Post GDS Vacancy 2026: India Post has issued recruitment notification for more than 25 thousand posts of Gramin Dak Sevak under GDS Recruitment 2026. OTR will start from 31st August

OTR i.e. One Time Registration for recruitment will start from 31st August 2026. After this, candidates will be able to apply online from 2 September 2026. The application will be made through the official website of India Post. Before applying, candidates must check the date and rules given in the official notification.

It is necessary to pass 10th, Maths and English are also mandatory.

For GDS recruitment, the candidate must have passed 10th from a recognized board. It is also mandatory to pass Mathematics and English in 10th class. Apart from this, the candidate should have studied the local language prescribed for the concerned post till 10th class.

That means merely passing 10th is not enough. The candidate must also fulfill the educational requirement of Mathematics, English and relevant local language.

Special rules for local language in these states

There are special rules related to local language for candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Sikkim and Nagaland. In these states, apart from English or Hindi, knowledge of the respective local tribal language or dialect may be necessary.

If at any place the concerned local language is not taught till class 10th then the language knowledge can be verified through a certificate issued by the prescribed authority. Therefore, candidates from these states must check the language related rules before applying.

How much is the application fee?

Application fee for GDS recruitment is Rs 100. However, SC, ST, Divyangjan, Women and Transgender candidates will not have to pay fees. Candidates of these categories will be able to apply without fee.

What is the salary of BPM, ABPM and Dak Sevak?

Selected candidates will be given TRCA i.e. Time Related Continuity Allowance. BPM post will get TRCA ranging from Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380. Whereas for ABPM and Dak Sevak posts, TRCA is fixed at Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470. The working hours for these posts are also fixed. Candidates will have to work for minimum 4 hours and maximum 5 hours daily.

What documents are required for application?

During online application, 10th mark sheet, identity card, caste certificate, PwBD Certificate where applicable, EWS certificate, proof of date of birth and medical certificate issued from a government hospital or dispensary will be required.

Where certificate of local or tribal language is applicable, proof of the same will also have to be given. Candidates must also see that the information entered in all the documents matches the information filled in the application form.

The process will have to be completed even after selection

After selection in GDS, candidates will have to go through Document Verification. This information will be given through SMS or email. The selected candidate will have to appear for physical verification of documents within 15 days. If the verification is found correct, a provisional contract proposal will be issued through the system. After this, the remaining procedures before appointment will have to be completed.

Appointment process will have to be completed in 30 days

After receiving the offer of provisional contract, the candidate will have to complete the necessary pre-appointment procedures within 30 days. This includes 3 days basic training and accommodation etc.

The final appointment order will be issued after receiving all the necessary documents and police verification report. That is, name appearing in the merit list is not the final guarantee of appointment; After this, it is also necessary to complete the documents and police verification.
