Pakuria, Pakur, Jharkhand :- Last Wednesday, an emergency meeting of JMM Block Committee was held under the chairmanship of Block President Motilal Hansda at JMM Block Office Pakuria. The meeting was mainly attended by Maheshpur MLA Prof. Stephen Marandi, District Vice President Harivansh Chaubey, Buddhijivi Morcha District President Debilal Hansdak joined as district supervisors.
In the meeting, discussions were held in detail mainly to make the one-day protest to be organized on 7th September at block headquarters Pakuria against the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Bill 2026 passed by the central BJP government a success.
The President/Secretary of the Panchayat who mainly participated in the meeting was told that you will work to ensure the participation of maximum number of workers, supporters and common people from all the Panchayats. For this, a strategy was made to run a public relations campaign at the Panchayat and village level and to inform the people about the possible effects of this black bill passed by the Central Government and the party also decided in the public interest that there should not be any football, buffalo or wrestling competition anywhere in the block on the coming 6th and 7th. Observers were appointed at the Panchayat level to make the protest successful.
MLA Prof. Stephen Marandi said that the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 is a black bill to destroy the federal structure and system of the country, which will snatch away the constitutional rights of the states and put them in serious financial crisis and weaken them. Since Jharkhand is a mineral-based state and 84% of the total non-tax revenue of Jharkhand, about Rs 14,000 crore, annually comes from mining, but if this bill comes into effect, Jharkhand will have to lose it, as a result of which it will have an adverse impact on the public welfare schemes run by the state government.
A very long battle has to be fought to withdraw this bill. All of you are the true soldiers of JMM party. You all should join hands today and now to make the one-day protest program successful. Spread publicity in all the market places and make people aware to come for the one-day protest program. JMM party will fight this battle in a democratic manner.
Addressing the meeting, District Vice President Harivansh Choubey said that Jharkhand is a state rich in natural resources and the rights and interests of the people of the state on its water, forests, land and mineral wealth are paramount. JMM will make the protest successful in a peaceful manner against the possible impact of this black law passed by the BJP government at the Center on the interests of Jharkhand.
Block President Motilal Hansda said that all the party officials and workers should start preparing for the protest program on September 7 with complete unity and discipline. By holding meetings and public relations at the Panchayat level, he called upon more and more people to participate in the protest.
District President of Buddhijivi Morcha Debilal Hansdak said that the one-day protest on September 7 will be made successful with peaceful, democratic and wide public participation. He appealed to all the workers to reach the block headquarters on time and make the program successful.
