SSB and SDRF pulled out three dead bodies that were dumped in the Gandak river from Nepal.

Maharajganj, 27 August 2026: The effects of the devastating floods in Nepal are now being seen in Indian areas as well. Flood waters coming from Nepal are dragging dead bodies to Indian areas. On Thursday, three dead bodies were found floating in the Gandak river near Nichlaul tail-fall.

The discovery of dead bodies created panic among the security agencies monitoring the river. Teams of SSB, SDRF and Nichlaul police reached the spot and took out the three dead bodies from the river and secured them.

Three dead bodies were found stretched out in the water.

The dead bodies found in the river include those of two women and one man. The flood waters from Nepal had brought these three dead bodies to Indian territory. The dead bodies have not been identified yet. Teams of security agencies are constantly keeping an eye on the river and the surrounding area, so that immediate action can be taken if any other dead body or garbage comes into Tanani along with the flood water.

District Magistrate Gaurav Singh Sogarwal and Superintendent of Police Shakti Mohan Awasthi also inspected the site on Thursday morning. The officials had instructed the deployed security agencies and police personnel to remain fully alert and keep a constant eye on the water level and flow of the river. Keeping in mind the serious flood situation in Nepal, surveillance on the Indian side of the river has been made more intensive.
