After the severe floods in the Himalayan border areas of Nepal and China, the Indian government has issued a major update. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, at least 288 Indian citizens are missing in Nepal, while around 200 other Indian citizens are stranded in China.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that the missing Indians include tourists and people working in Nepal. At the same time, 21 Indian citizens of Tamil Nadu who had gone on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra have been rescued safely in Nepal.
Randhir Jaiswal gave information about Indians
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the missing Indian citizens in Nepal include many different groups.
He told that the first group consists of 73 people, who were working in Trishuli-1 Power Project. Apart from this, there are two groups of citizens from Tamil Nadu, comprising 37 and 49 people, who went to Nepal for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Apart from this, a group of 32 Indian citizens from West Bengal had gone to Timure in Rasuwa district. At the same time, 61 Indian citizens from different states and 33 citizens of Kerala are also included in the list of missing people.
Flood havoc increases in Nepal and Tibet
According to Nepalese officials, a large number of people have died in this natural disaster and many people are still missing. At the same time, information about many casualties has also come to light in the Tibet region of China.
Randhir Jaiswal said that at present the Government of India does not have complete information about the number of deaths. He said that the situation is constantly changing and as new information is received, it will be shared.
Difficulties being faced in relief and rescue operations
Due to floods in Nepal, many bridges have been broken and a large number of roads have been damaged. Relief and rescue operations are being affected by this.
Indian and Nepali agencies are continuously trying to reach the people trapped in the affected areas and rescue them safely.
