According to the decision of Mumbai Milk Producers Association, the new rate will be applicable from September 1, 2026 and will remain effective till February 28, 2027. In such a situation, milk will have to be purchased even at increased prices for the next six months. After this the milk prices will be reviewed again. However, this step will definitely give a big shock to the common man.
Earlier in February 2026, the price of milk was increased by two rupees. Now an increase of Rs 9 is being made at a time. According to available reports, this is said to be the biggest one-time increase in the nearly 70-year history of MMPA. Milk producers have cited the increasing cost of animal feed and milk yielding animals as the main reason behind the price increase.
