New Delhi. Karnataka Minister B. Nagendra announced his resignation from the Cabinet in the matter of alleged financial irregularities in Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation. There was pressure on him to step down from the post for a long time. BJP was continuously protesting against him and demanding his removal from the cabinet. Nagendra said that he has decided to step down voluntarily, so that the party does not have to face embarrassment. He also targeted BJP and described himself as a victim of its 'Manuvadi politics'.

This matter is important because the corporation in which allegations of irregularities have been made is related to the development of Scheduled Tribes. According to the investigating agencies, allegations of sending the corporation's money to different accounts have been investigated. However, the final decision on these allegations is yet to be taken in the court.
