Hyderabad, Aug 28:
Seven people were killed and six others injured when a private bus collided with an auto-rickshaw near Kala Mandir Junction in Andhra Pradesh’s Palnadu district in the early hours of Thursday.
Police said the accident occurred at around 1 am when the private bus, travelling towards Tirupati, reached the bypass near Chilakaluripet to pick up a passenger.
After picking up the passenger, the bus was proceeding towards Narasaraopet bus stand when it collided with the auto-rickshaw.
According to Narasaraopet Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Hanumanth Rao, the auto reportedly entered the wrong side of the road and came into the path of the bus, which was travelling at around 40 kmph.
Four people died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries after being taken to hospital.
The six injured persons were admitted for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
