Of those missing due to floods in Bhotekoshi river of Rasuwa, Nepal, 158 bodies have been recovered till Friday evening in Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta East) district. Of these, 48 additional bodies have been found today alone.
According to Anil Pandit, Information Officer and DSP of District Police Office Nawalparasi East, 158 dead bodies were found till late evening at various places of Narayani river flowing through Nawalparasi East.
Out of these recovered bodies, 109 bodies were found in full body form. At the same time, different body parts of 49 dead bodies were recovered from different places in the district.
According to the DSP, the bodies recovered include bodies of 31 women, 51 men, 8 boys and 11 girls. The remaining remains include 30 legs, 11 hands, 3 thighs, a part above the waist, a part of the head, a part of the stomach, the left part of the body and a part of the chest.
Maximum 103 dead bodies have been found from Gandakot municipality in the district. Apart from this, 22 dead bodies have been recovered in Madhyavindu Municipality, 12 each in Kawasoti Municipality and Vinayi Triveni Village Municipality and 9 in Devchuli Municipality.
The bodies found on the banks of Narayani river have been kept safe in various hospitals and forest office buildings. 48 bodies have been kept in Municipal Hospital Gandakot, 46 in Madhyavindu Regional Hospital Danda, 6 in Municipal Hospital Madhyavindu and 5 in the building of Ankur Community Forest.
Similarly, 41 bodies have been sent to Gandaki Hospital Pokhara, 2 to Lumbini Medical College Prabhas Palpa, 4 to State Hospital Palpa and 2 to Mission Hospital Palpa for identification and management.
DSP Anil Pandit said that 9 bodies are still on the river bank and preparations are being made to bring them to a safe place.
