Emraan Hashmi has tested positive for swine flu (H1N1) and is currently recovering after falling unwell following recent work-related travel, including a trip to Ranchi. Doctors have advised the actor to rest and take necessary precautions.
Hashmi had been travelling for shoots and reportedly began feeling unwell after returning to Mumbai. His test reports came back positive on Friday, August 28. He was unavailable for comment when contacted.
The actor was scheduled to headline The Emraan Era, a Bollywood-themed event at Sunburn Union in Bengaluru on Saturday, August 29. The show has now been postponed to September 12, with tickets remaining valid for the rescheduled date.
Hashmi is currently enjoying the theatrical success of Awarapan 2, which released on August 14. The film, in which he reprises his role as Shivam Pandit, has continued its strong run at the box office.
His illness comes shortly after his return to live performances following a gap of nearly 19 years. Hashmi had been scheduled to perform at events in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, revisiting songs from films including Murder, Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Jannat.
