Mumbai Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke shared a video of a government school kitchen on social media on Saturday. He alleged that expired food items were allegedly being used to feed children in the school. Raising questions on the government, Deepke asked whether the people in power will feed such food to their children also?
Questions raised regarding spice packets-
According to Abhijeet Deepke, during the inspection of the school kitchen, a packet of spices was found. He claimed that the packet had a packing date of August 2025 and its shelf life was to expire before February 2026.
Deepke alleged that despite this, such ingredients are being used in the food of children in rural areas. However, there is no independent confirmation of the quality of the content shown in the video and its actual expiry status.
In the video shared, Deepke is seen inspecting the school kitchen and showing the date written on the spice packet. He said that he will continue to raise the issue of allegedly giving expired food to the children of rural India.
Deepke also said that even if an FIR is registered against him for bringing such matters to light, he will not shy away from exposing the alleged irregularities.
Inspection under 'Fix the School' campaign-
CJP has said that this inspection will be done under the 'Fix the School' campaign. According to the party, the aim of the campaign is to highlight the alleged shortcomings present in government schools in rural areas and demand solutions from the government.
The campaign calls for focusing on the school building, classrooms, toilets and other basic facilities available to children as well as food arrangements.
If there is no school in the village then how can the children get education?
Deepke also mentioned his first school visit under the campaign in Maharashtra. According to him, some students have to travel several kilometers to study as schools are not available in their villages.
He also described lack of transportation as a major problem for children. CJP says that the campaign will not be limited only to the condition of the school premises, but it will also be seen whether the children are able to reach the school safely or not and whether they are getting the necessary facilities there or not.
Preparation to collect data from schools across the country-
Under the campaign, parents and government officials have been appealed to prepare a checklist regarding the basic facilities of schools. CJP is planning to collect information from government schools in different parts of the country including Maharashtra.
The party says that by collecting this information, data related to the status of schools will be prepared. However, what action is taken by the concerned departments on the basis of allegations surfaced and data collected will be important in future.
