Suryakumar Yadav has made a big revelation on his sudden removal from the team after winning the T20 World Cup. He told that when he came to know about this on the phone, he was very shocked and while staying at home for one and a half month, the same thing kept wandering in his mind that how can someone be dropped from the team after winning the World Cup.
The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar took a big step and did not keep Suryakumar Yadav in the team for the upcoming series. In his place, Shreyas Iyer was made the new T20 captain. The committee had taken this decision keeping future planning in mind.

Impact of IPL
The biggest reason for removing Suryakumar Yadav from the team has been his poor batting form for the last two years. During the year 2025, he could not score a single fifty in the India jersey. Apart from this, his bat remained quiet in the T20 World Cup as well and his only performance came against USA at his home ground Wankhede Stadium. Also, his performance in the IPL was not as per expectations, due to which his exit was almost certain.
Even though he was not scoring runs individually, Suryakumar Yadav's record as captain was excellent and spotless. Under his captaincy, India did not lose a single T20 series and captured the T20 World Cup trophy on national soil. This was the reason why Suryakumar believed that he would continue the work of taking the team forward for the next two years, keeping in mind the Olympics and the upcoming T20 World Cup. When this did not happen, he asked himself what was the need for this change when everything was going well.
The call came three days before the announcement
Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the selection committee had contacted him on phone just two-three days before the official announcement of the team. The committee had told him in clear words that now the time has come to move forward. Suryakumar did not show any commotion or anger on this matter, he believed that the committee must have taken this decision only in the interest of the team.
Suryakumar Yadav told that when his name was not in the team, he understood the situation and thought it better to remain calm and smile. However, inside he was very sad and disappointed. He shared that he stayed at his home continuously for one and a half months where his friends and family came to meet him and everyone explained that it was a part of the game. When everyone would leave and he would be alone, the same question would come to his mind again and again, 'How is this possible?' We have just won the World Cup.

Talk about further preparations
Suryakumar made it clear that he has played a lot of cricket with Shreyas Iyer and Shreyas is a good person and a great captain. There was no personal bitterness or question in his mind regarding Shreyas being made the captain. Concluding his speech, he said that he is always ready to take the field again whenever the committee deems it appropriate and whenever the team needs him.
