Mumbai: Tara Sutaria has opened up about her experience working with Yash in Toxic: A FairyTale for GrownUps, revealing that the actor is very different from the intense, angry character he portrays on screen.
Yash’s much-awaited pan-India film Toxic: A FairyTale for GrownUps finally hit theatres on August 26 after several delays.
While the film has been performing well at the box office, it has received a largely mixed-to-negative response from audiences.
Amid the chatter surrounding the film, Tara has now shared her thoughts on working with Yash during an appearance on The Male Feminist podcast.
In Toxic, Yash plays an intense and aggressive character, but Tara says his real-life personality is quite the opposite.
When asked whether she would consider him a male feminist, she described him as one of the most sensitive people she has encountered in the industry.
“He is one of the most sensitive and genuinely, he is thinking about the other person more than himself. Bohot kam hota hai hamare industry mein, ye dekhna (It is rare to see such a person in this industry),” Tara said.
She added that Yash is unlike anyone she has previously worked with and praised him for being “very considerate.”
During the conversation, Tara also addressed the comparisons that female actors frequently face in the entertainment industry.
She pointed out that every actress has her own strengths and occupies a different space, making comparisons unnecessary.
“In our industry every single actress fits a different role. I don’t think you can compare anybody. Everybody is doing different work,” she said.
Tara also noted that actresses are often compared with one another on social media, while male actors rarely face the same level of comparison.
“Sometimes we are compared with one another, on social media. This or that. This name or that name. They never do that for guys! I have never seen, this hero or that hero,” she added.
Toxic: A FairyTale for GrownUps features Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria.
The film is written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Geetu.
Tara’s first look as Rebecca was unveiled on January 3.
At the time, Geetu shared a heartfelt note about the actress, revealing that she had always felt an instinctive urge to protect Tara.
Geetu wrote that Tara had a reserved personality and often absorbed more than she expressed.
She also praised the actress for the way she eventually embraced her character, describing her performance as “nothing less than stunning.”
The filmmaker expressed her affection for Tara and said she was confident the actress would surprise audiences with her performance.
