Why is Jemimah Rodrigues not playing in India vs Thailand Women’s Asia Cup 2026 match?

Star batter Jemimah Rodrigues was not named in India’s playing XI for its Women’s Asia Cup 2026 opener against Thailand at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

Jemimah was ruled out of the Asia Cup, and the upcoming Asian Games, after she sustained an injury while playing in the Hundred.

“Jemimah Rodrigues sustained a right hamstring injury on 3rd August while playing in The Hundred in England. The BCCI Medical Team clinically assessed her at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and the assessment confirmed a high-grade tear,” the BCCI had said in a statement.

Opener Pratika Rawal was announced as her replacement in India’s Asia Cup squad.

India has won the Women’s Asia Cup (T20 format) thrice and will be looking to clinch a fourth title after finishing runner-up in the 2024 edition.
